Scilly through the seasons

Enjoy Scilly's wildlife year-round

Nature on the Isles of Scilly is ever-changing. Because of our southerly position, spring seems to start a little earlier and winter seems to start a little later. Our islands are governed by the wind, the tide and the weather, and it's no different for wildlife. Some species that are common on the mainland are notably absent from our islands (including many mammals and garden bird species), whilst others that are doing poorly on the mainland, like song thrushes, appear to be thriving. What you might see depends on when you visit, so we've pulled together our seasonal guides to help you make the most of your wildlife watching.
