Scilly's Seashore Code
Rockpool responsibly
You can help us Keep Scilly Special by following the Seashore Code whenever you visit to explore the rockpools. Follow these easy guidelines and help to protect the rocky shore habitat and the plants and animals that live around Scilly's shores.
- If looking under rocks, lift them up gently, replace them carefully and leave the area just how you found it.
- Use a bucket to look at sea creatures. Fill it with sea water first, handle animals delicately and only put one animal in the bucket at a time.
- Put animals back exactly where you found them, as they might be territorial. Catch rockpool creatures with your hands.
- Watch your step, avoid stepping on animals and don't prise shells or animals off rocks.
- Tread carefully on slippery rocks, take litter home and be mindful of the tide times so that you don't get stuck.
